The impact of space weather on aviation

The presented article discusses various aspects of the impact of space weather on aviation. Analysis of existing data shows that space weather disturbances can have both direct and indirect effects on components of aviation systems. One of the key factors is the influence of geomagnetic storms, which is associated with the occurrence of geomagnetic-induced currents (GIT). Indirect effects can be manifested through disruptions in the stable supply of electricity, failures in communication systems and errors in location determination in navigation satellite systems. The review provides information about the main factors of space weather that can pose a threat to aviation technologies and navigation systems.
