The transformation of the Russian labor market, under the influence of negative demographic factors, reinforces the objective need to increase the rate of labor productivity and increase the level of employment, emphasizing the demand for employees to have not only developed professional skills, but also a high level of analytical, interpersonal and socio-emotional abilities necessary for successful professional activity. Structural shifts in the labor market, according to the HSE report for 2022, led to a shift in the peak of economic activity towards of older age groups (45 years and older) of the population. Thus, the need to study the non-cognitive skills of the older age group of the population, which makes up a significant proportion of the workforce, is dictated by the need to maximize their labor potential and increase employment in order to solve the problem of personnel shortage in Russian business. The goal of the study was to analyze the impact of non-cognitive skills on the position of older age groups (45 years and older) in the labor market. As a result of the study, recommendations are presented for the development of some non-cognitive skills that have the greatest impact on the position of older age groups in the labor market.
