The impact of the acceptance attitude of a disabled child for the social adaptation of parents

The relevance of the study is due to the high risk of social maladaptation of parents of disabled children, which entails many negative consequences, including tragic abandonment due to difficulties in forming an attitude of acceptance of the child’s diagnosis and untimely provision of necessary complex assistance to them. The aim of the study is to substantiate the impact of adopting a disabled child on the social adaptation of parents and to develop recommendations in the field of social work on the development of their support for the formation of such an attitude and the prevention of abandonment of such children. The novelty of the study is that the factors that contribute to and hinder the formation of parents’ attitude to accept a disabled child are revealed, and its importance for their social adaptation is determined. The experience of social work on the formation and preservation of this type of attitude towards the child among parents has been studied, and recommendations for its further improvement have been proposed.
