This article analyzes the results of the study of communication skills and the perceptive and interactive aspect of communication of 8-10-year-old children with severe mental retardation. It presents the results of the testing of adapted methods to study communication skills and the perceptual and interactive aspect of communication of children in this category. The article reveals a direct, close and highly significant correlation between the levels of the formedness of communication skills and the perceptual and interactive aspect of communication.
