Influence of different surfactants on rheological characteristics of water-glycol solutions of polyacrylic thickeners

Lightly cross-linked polymer thickeners based on the acrylic acid were synthesized via radical polymerization precipitation technique. The influence of the added low-molecular surfactants of different types on rheology of water-propylene glycol solutions of the synthesized thickeners was studied. It was found that according to rheological characteristics one could design anti-icing fluids of the II-IV types based on the water-propylene glycol solutions containing hydrophobically modified polyacrylic acid and nonionic surfactants.
