Effect of principal splenectomy on results of expanded gastrectomy

Comparative analysis of short-term results of radical surgery for gastric cancer has been presented. Out of 137 patients operated on for gastric cancer, there were 70 who underwent expanded gastrectomy with splenectomy and 67 patients who underwent gastrectomy with preservation of the spleen. The rate of postoperative complications in splenecomized patients was 17,1 % and postoperative rate was 4,2 %. The rates of postoperative complications and postoperative lethality after spleen-preserving surgery were 17,9 % and 4,7 %, respectively.
