The effect of the decarbonization process on the profitability of the non-ferrous metallurgy (on the example of the copper industry)

The article discusses the mechanisms and degree of influence of the decarbonization process on the efficiency of mining enterprises of the domestic non-ferrous metallurgy. The levels of penalties for exceeding the volume of greenhouse gas emissions during the development of copper-bearing depositsin Russia, leading to an increase in the cost of mining and processing ores, are estimated. According to the authors, government support is needed for mining enterprises to introduce new «green» technologies and prevent the negative impact of carbon regulation on the economic performance of the industry.
