This article highlights the influence of global trends on traditional customs and rituals accepted in Uzbek society. Changing living conditions, socio-economic and cultural transformations, oblivion of national traditions have led to the loss and transformation of many rites and customs of the life cycle of Uzbeks in the city of Osh. Such components of the pre-wedding stage as the custom of young people avoiding each other's older relatives, the custom of staying in someone else's house, etc., have practically not survived in the urban environment today. Thus, if earlier our grandmothers and great-grandmothers gradually accumulated most of the dowry for their daughters or granddaughters, even from the early childhood of the latter, today, when fashion is changing rapidly, putting off the dowry has become irrelevant. The quantity and quality of the dowry depends on the financial situation of the girl's family. Although today both the rich and those with limited means try to outdo each other in this ritual, so as not to become the subject of condemnation, especially from the groom's relatives. A few days before the wedding, the Muslim wedding ceremony - nikah - is performed. Recently, Muslims of Osh attach great importance to the performance of nikah, along with the solemn registration of marriage at the registry office. Recently, having a higher education has become valued among young people. The results of the study may be useful for better understanding the dynamics of changes in cultural practices under the influence of globalization, as well as for preserving and transforming traditions in the modern context.
