The aim of this work is to assess the effect of propafenone on the diastolic function of the left ventricle in hypertensive disease complicated by paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Materials and Methods. The study involved 86 patients with hypertonic disease, complicated by the paroxysmal form of atrial fibrillation. All patients underwent echocardiography with the definition of a set of generally accepted morphofunctional parameters. All patients were divided into 2 groups according to their age characteristics: 41-60 years old and over 60 years old. When included in the study, propafenone was administered at a dose of 600 mg to restore the rhythm, then after restoring the rhythm in it was administered at a dose of 450 mg per day during the year of observation. Results and Conclusions. Propaphenone preserves the diastolic function of the left ventricle at its initial normal values for hypertensive disease complicated by the paroxysmal form of atrial fibrillation in patients aged 41-60 years and over 60 years. The drug does not cause progression of diastolic left ventricle dysfunction with its initial altered parameters in hypertensive disease complicated by paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
