The influence of regional vocabulary on cultural perception in Chingiz Aitmatov’s writings: an English linguoethnocultural analysis

Chingiz Aitmatov, a prominent Kyrgyz writer, masterfully incorporated regional vocabulary into his literary works, shaping the cultural perception of his readers worldwide. His use of linguoethnocultural elements allowed for an authentic representation of Kyrgyz identity, traditions, and worldview. However, the translation of his works into English posed significant challenges due to the cultural specificity of regional lexicon. This article examines Aitmatov’s linguistic style, his literary techniques, and the impact of regional vocabulary on cultural perception. Furthermore, it explores the difficulties encountered in translating his works and how translators attempted to preserve the richness of his original texts.
