The effect of fermented colostrum on morpho-biochemical parameters of calves' blood

The article discusses the results of studies on the effect of fermented colostrum on the morpho-biochemical parameters of calves' blood. For the study, two groups of 10 calves of each black-and-white breed were formed. The first group of animals (the control group) was fed with regular colostrum without fermentation. The second group (the experimental group) received fermented colostrum + thymogen. Colostrum was preserved using Productiv Acid SE. The calves were fed with fermented colostrum for 3 weeks. It was found that after feeding the fermented colostrum, changes occurred in the morphological composition of the blood of the calves in the experimental group. Thus, the number of erythrocytes increased by 18.2%, leukocytes - by 13.0%, platelets - by 32.6%, relative to the control. In the leukocyte formula, an increase in the number of eosinophils by 33.5%, granulocytes - by 12.5%, monocytes by 2.6 times was established, however, a decrease in the number of basophils by 11.1% was established, relative to the indicators of animals of the first group. The average hemoglobin content in an erythrocyte, the width of the distribution of erythrocytes and the average volume of platelets increased by 38.2%, 14.3% and 9.3%, respectively, relative to the control values. When analyzing the biochemical parameters of the blood of calves, it was found that the total protein in the experimental group increased by 20.8%, the glucose content in the experimental group increased by 25%, calcium - by 24.2 %, magnesium - by 15 %, phosphorus by - 19 %. At the same time, the content of ketone bodies decreased by 9.1 %, it should also be noted that all the above indicators remained within the normal range. Thus, the use of fermented colostrum has a positive effect on the body of calves.
