Relevance. An analysis of the scientific and methodological literature and the practice of training highly qualified hockey players shows that after the end of the competitive season, players hire a fitness coach for 2.5-4 months or work out independently according to their own program. During off-season training, hockey players do the most important amount of work to physically, tactically and psychologically prepare for the new season. One of the most important tasks during this period is to maintain speed and power, strength and endurance at the level not lower than it was in the previous competitive season. There is no doubt that off-season training plays an extremely important role, but there are not enough studies that reveal the content of off-season training and the effectiveness of various technologies used during this period. The aim of the study is to develop theoretically and experimentally substantiate the effectiveness of the methodology of extra-weekly physical training of hockey players at the stage of higher sports skills in the off-season period.
