Nonschool education in the Mordovia region in 1890-1910

By the example of several districts of Penza province which were later included in Mordovia, the article traces the history of creation and development of such forms of nonschool education as Sunday public readings and libraries-athenaeums on the border of XIX-XX centuries. These forms played an exceptionally significant role in people's enlightenment during the stated period.
