The article studies foreign economic cooperation of agro-industry enterprises of the Republic of Buryatia with China and Mongolia. We have considered the history of foreign economic cooperation development in the region, identified factors both stimulating and limiting agroindustrial cooperation with China and Mongolia. It is concluded that the republic’s proximity to Mongolia and China facilitates logistics for the supply of agricultural products. Unofficial status of Buryatia as “The Eastern Gate of Russia” plays a major role in stimulating foreign economic activity. Among the factors limiting foreign economic cooperation we have identified economic, non-tariff barriers, and legislative factors (the need for certification under Chinese laws, registration through the System of Importers and Exporters of Products and Cosmetics, etc.). The study has shown the main problems of Russian-Mongolian agroindustrial cooperation, primarily unfavorable epizootic situation in Mongolia, analyzed the commodity structure of Russian-Chinese cooperation. A conclusion is drawn about the homogeneity of the commodity structure and the need to intensify activities in the field of agroindustrial cooperation.
