Analyzing the content of the unique autobiographical poem (the story in verse) by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the author of the article refers to the history of the creation of this work. The question of the state and level of criticism of the outstanding writer's artistic achievements is raised. The author substantiates his approach, allowing to update to the modern reader the enough clear philosophy of life that is contained in the poem “The Trail”. He proposes to consider the works by Solzhenitsyn as an image of social consciousness and the consciousness of each of us, which is handed down outside. The unity of the civil and artistic position of Alexander Solzhenitsyn revealed in the article can be interpreted both as a kind of romantic impulse and as a wise, completely stable acquisition of fearlessness in the face of life trials, a path that is called the history of a country and a state.
