Internal migration movement in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

The paper discusses the features of the internal migration movement in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The research analyzes the statistical data on the migration movement, the activities of all types of economic entities, the availability and movement of fixed assets of large and medium-sized commercial and non-profit organizations of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The author notes the uneven spatial distribution of the productive forces which plays the main role in the human resources allocation. The research identifies such characteristics of internal migration in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) as the intensive migration processes in areas where the mining industry is developed, the rapid rural-to-urban migration and the low migration potential of the population from the remote and hard-to-reach areas of the indigenous minority of the North. The study reveals the changes in the structure of incoming and outgoing migrants by education indicator as compared to the beginning of the 1990s.
