The churching of culture as a main research theme of S. S. Averintsev

The article examines the main “internal” topic of S. S. Averintsev's research, which has a paradigmatic character both for him as a scientist and for the Christian philosophy of culture as a whole. This is the problem of the churching of culture as a special paradoxical process of filling and transforming the old pagan forms of culture under the influence of a new Christian content. This process is shown by S. S. Averintsev as a model of para-phrase and para-dox as forms of transcending consciousness for the openness of the Gospel Message. In his most diverse problems, S. S. Averintsev uses the method of “opening” the transcendent elements of culture.
