Stormy waters as keynote of “Karelian text” in Michael Prishvin's book “The land of untamed birds”

The article analyzes natural images and symbols of “Karelian text” in the book of essays “The land of untamed birds” written by Michael Prishvin. Out of all major natural dominants inherent of Karelia - “wood, water, and stone” - the writer gives priority to stormy waters. The image of the waterfall is examined as a representative symbol of “Karelian text”. We came to a conclusion that in the authors’ perception the natural dominants of “Vygovskiy edge” transfer into symbolic complexes of “Karelian texts”. These dominants also serve as content inspiring keynotes for further creative work of the author.
