At present, researchers’ interest in the history of military clergy in Russia does not wane. However, the issue of the development of military-church relations in the middle and second half of the 18th century is still poorly studied. This makes the turn to the problem of the formation of the institute of military clergy in Western Siberia in the 40s and 60s of the 18th century undoubtedly relevant and novel. Materials of the Tobolsk branch of the State Archives of the Tyumen Region have been studied, which determines the regional aspect of the analysis. Most of them are published for the first time. A number of issues related to the time of the first regimental priests in the region and performance of their official duties, command and control of military clergy, enrolment of staff clergy of the army, financial matters of regimental priests, etc. are discussed and analyzed.
