Volunteering as a form of social support for vulnerable segments of the population

The article deals with the role of volunteering in providing social support for vulnerable segments of the population. The key organizational and ideological foundations for the development of volunteer practice in Russia are analyzed. The potential of Russian traditional culture and values in the promotion and development of volunteer practices for social support of vulnerable segments of the population is revealed. Some measures and recommendations are formulated to promote the development of the volunteer movement in modern Russian society, aimed at multi-level and comprehensive support of socially vulnerable segments of the population: expanding the social participation of Russians in the lives of vulnerable segments of the population; establishing a mechanism for managing volunteer projects; creation of a diversified system of volunteer service. The key conclusion of the study is that the culture and traditional values of the Russian people can become the most important fundamental basis for the popularization of unselfishness, mutual assistance - the qualities that form the basis of volunteering as a social phenomenon.
