Volga river craft in the years of the struggle for national economy recovery and in the period of the new economic policy (from 1921 to 1928)

The present article deals with one of the hardest periods of history of the Volga river craft. The craft, almost completely destroyed during the Civil war, required enormous investing in its restoration, repair and construction of new river crafts for bulk cargo transport in the interests of the national economy. A reestablishment of relations between industry and agriculture, interrupted in the years of the war, was not possible without a normal transport activity. An unequalled heroic labour of the Volga region people became an outstanding example of patriotism of the average men thanks to which our country has emerged from desolation and has become one the superpowers in the world.
