This article is a commentary on the first translation from Latin into Russian of the first seventeen questions of interpretation to the Gospel of Luke, included in the second book of the two-volume work Questions on the Gospels by Blessed Augustine of Hippo. At present, there is a translation of the first book of the Questions on the Gospels - an interpretation of selected passages to the Gospel of Matthew, published in 1917 by Hieromartyr Vasily (Bogdashevsky) in the academic journal of Kiev Theological Academy. The translation of the second book of the Questions on the Gospels , even if it completed by this translator, has been lost. Making up for the possible loss of translation, this article for the first time offers an analysis of the exegetical methods of Blessed Augustine in the Questions on the Gospels . The main method of interpretation of Blessed Augustine in this work is tropological. It is also known as monastic or moral exegesis. In the context of this method, the numerology of Blessed Augustine is discussed, which is most fully presented in the Questions on the Gospels . The interpretation of all digits from one to ten, some two-digit numerals, as well as the numerals ten and twenty thousand is considered
