Issues of normative regulation of general education content in the Russian empire in the first half of the 19th century

The article is devoted to the study of normative regulation of the content of general education in the Russian Empire in the first half of the 19th century. The historical significance of the Ministry of Public Education is justified as the central executive authority responsible for the development of state policy and the implementation of regulatory and legal regulation in the fields of education and culture. The main trends in the development of classical general education within the framework of the sociocultural activities of the imperial period are characterized. The article describes the state strategic documents that regulated and structured the process of updating general education content. The first domestic school charters are analyzed, highlighting their role in the development of academic disciplines and general education training. Key features of the implementation of the government's educational policy during the reigns of Russian Emperors Alexander I and Nicholas I are identified. The main trends in the implementation of state educational policy, managerial decisionmaking, and the unification of the school curriculum are discussed. The specific aspects of the sociocultural modernization of Russian education in the first half of the 19th century are revealed.
