В статье представлен краткий обзор отношений Индии и США в период нахождения у власти правительства Н. Моди и администрации Б. Обамы соответственно. Рассмотрена динамика развития сотрудничества после победы Бхаратия джаната парти на парламентских выборах 2014 г. в Индии, определены основные направления двусторонней повестки дня. Дана оценка состоянию американо-индийского стратегического диалога и влиянию вопросов прав человека на сотрудничество стран. Выделена наиболее острая проблема в рамках правозащитной линии Вашингтона в отношении Нью-Дели. Отмечены особенности положения индийских иммигрантов в американском обществе, их участие в формировании политики США и лоббистская деятельность. Определены проблемные аспекты и ближайшие перспективы отношений двух стран.
