At all times, people have needed qualifi ed medical care. As-Samarqandi said: “If the disease is not determined, it is impossible to treat it”. So, in connection with the detection of a New coronavirus infection in Wuhan in 2019, there was an urgent need for the construction of infectious hospitals, the conversion of existing hospitals into infectious, the development, production of equipment and drugs for the diagnosis, detection, prevention and treatment of COVID-19. And also in specialists - doctors of functional diagnostics (radiologists, virologists, clinical laboratory assistants, laboratory geneticists, ultrasound diagnosticians, radiologists) who would be able to accurately recognize the disease, thereby helping the attending physician to choose the right tactics for treating patients. However, the exercise of any professional activity may lead to legal liability. In this connection, I would like to study the issues of legal protection of a biophysicist as a future specialist of functional diagnostics. The paper considers the types of legal liability of medical workers, and also formulates the main legal risks in the activities of a biophysicist, formulates recommendations, in compliance with which the risk of criminal and administratively non-punishable acts is minimal.
