Education of a citizen-patriot: theoretical aspect

The article points to the relevance of civil-patriotic education of the younger generation, the revival of patriotism and citizenship as a strategic goal of the education system. The essence of the concepts «patriotism» and «civic consciousness» is analyzed, the similarities and differences of these categories are determined. The emphasis is made on the fact that these categories are valuable. On the basis of the studies studied, the author presents his interpretation of the concept of «civil-patriotic education». The research is carried out on the basis of theoretical methods: analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature, conceptual and terminological analysis; normative documents on the research problem. The positions of scientists on the problem under study are analyzed. As methodological approaches, the following are distinguished: axiological, activity, environmental.
