The article discusses the features, social significance of patriotism, traditions, approaches and problems of familiarizing with it. The algorithm of introduction to patriotism is investigated. The special social significance of the images-symbols of the spiritual space of patriotism, which is of key importance in the processes of familiarizing with this phenomenon, is substantiated.
