Pedagogical aspect of the Tikhon Zadonsky's works and modern education

The article considers the topical issues related to the place of the pedagogical work in the Russian education system, as well as to the need to study classical literature and the works of the great Russian saints at school. Learning these works is appropriate not only in teaching religious subjects to the students majoring in theology and religious studies, but in educating courses of Russian literature and Russian history while training the students of other fields of study as well. The author grounds his opinion that upbringing based on Christian traditions, which in turn is based on studying written heritage of the Russian Orthodox saints, should be an integral part of the pedagogical process. The article identifies that the life, activities and the works of St. Tikhon Zadonsky should be taken as an example for purposes of developing the pedagogical component of the Russian education system.
