The Educational Potential of Regional Cultures in Modern Russian Society: the Essence and Main Problems of Implementation

The article deals with the essence of regional cultures and the main problems of implementing their educational potential in modern Russian education. The methodology of the problem study is based on theoretical provisions formulated by outstanding representatives of Russian science. In Russian education, there is practically no integrated system for mastering regional culture and using it in the educational process, and the potential inherent in the traditions of educational activities characteristic of individual regions of our country has not been realized. The Don region is chosen as an example, which has rich cultural traditions and values that can be used in the educational process aimed at young representatives of the modern generation living in this region. The most important aspect of educational activity with a spiritual, moral and patriotic focus is the actualization of the socio-cultural potential of the Cossacks as an integral part of the culture of the Don region. The research prospects include further scientific developments in the field of regional cultures, in solving the main problems of realizing their educational potential in modern Russian society – in combination with the definition of promising ways and means of realizing this potential.
