The article presents the results of a qualitative sociological research conducted in 2021, using the method of a group focused interview. The influence of the ecological situation on the demographic behavior of the Krasnoyarsk city population was previously studied by the author of the article through an expert interview and a quantitative representative mass survey of residents. In the process of processing the results of the mass question-ing, a few questions arose related to the problem of respondents’ perception of the impact of environmental factors on various aspects of their lives, which necessitated the use of the method of sociological research, which is a group focused interview. The substantiation of the expediency of using this method as more effective in relation to the focus group method is given. The main criterion for the formation of groups was the age criterion. In addition, the region of residence and the gender of the participants were considered. The guide is divided into several the-matic blocks. In a state of information oversaturation, Krasnoyarsk residents “drown” in an endless stream of infor-mation. The media space provides Krasnoyarsk residents with applied knowledge for the formation of certain be-havioral patterns in case of excessive technogenic pollution of the urban environment. Although the participants in the group interviews critically and negatively speak of the current ecological state of the urban environment, relying on information from the mass media, and as shown by the projective method, they assess the level of environmental pollution as average. Moreover, they note that the degree of pollution of the city in the past was higher, but in the future the situation will not be better. According to these data the degree of the city pollution used to be worse in the past and it will not be better in the future. At the same time, the increased technogenic pollution of the environ-ment does not force Krasnoyarsk residents to move to a more environmentally friendly region; this is hampered by the low level of economic security of the population.
