East Syrian mystical tradition (taggurta): does it provide perspectives for the scientific study of consciousness?

The aim of the present article is to draw the attention of psychologists, psychotherapists and neurophysiologists, as well as scholars specializing in comparative studies of mystical practices, to the East Syriac mystical tradition. The texts belonging to this tradition contain unique descriptions of mystical experience. The author believes that these texts may be relevant for modern scientific consciousness research.
