F. R"uckert's "Eastern rose": motifs, themes, language

A countless number of "Eastern" poems and sometimes annoyingly recurring themes blunts the perception of artistic beauty of Rückert poetry. I think that the lyrical element is also obscured by the 'verbal gymnastics' of the poet. F. Rückert is an unsurpassed master of word, who considered the task of the poet equal to the task of juggler and circus tightrope walker, but his art does not always manage to hold the reader's attention within a few key motifs of the collection. Despite the super-fine knowledge of the language, the 357 verses of "Oriental rose" in many ways, remain a tedious read.
Rückert is a polyglot, scholar and a linguist, a great influence on the development of german scientific and poetic orientalism
