The article analyzes and justifies the demand and popularity of professional education in the field of information technologies. Statistical data on the labor market in the field of information technologies are presented. The article considers the needs of the labor market for specialists in the field of information technologies at the level of secondary professional education. An example of professional training of graduates in the specialty “Information systems and programming” of the qualification “Programmer” is given. The professional standard “Programmer” is analyzed. The gaps between the state requirements for training specialists in this specialization in accordance with the federal state educational standard and the approximate basic educational program in this specialization and the expectations of employers are revealed. The need for “soft” competencies of young specialists in the field of information technology is revealed. In conclusion, the mechanisms of interaction between educational organizations and the labor market are proposed.
