The university offers a variety of activities that actively contribute to the formation and development of students’ professional and personal qualities, as well as improving their social skills. However, some students have difficulty choosing a direction due to lack of information about available opportunities or lack of motivation. The purpose of the study was to analyze the participation of students in various extracurricular activities. To achieve this goal, a sociological study was carried out using empirical methods, which consisted of collecting data obtained as a result of a survey. The survey was conducted using the Google Forms platform in an anonymous format among full-time students of the Far Eastern Federal University. The 560 students of various fields and levels of higher education aged 17 years and older were attended in the survey. As a result of the study, the directions of student involvement in extracurricular activities were studied. These include classes in sports clubs, creative groups, participation in research projects, competitions, volunteering and other forms of extracurricular activities. The study also helped to identify the main sources of information about such activities and identify factors influencing students’ interest and motivation in extracurricular activities. Through the data obtained as a result of the survey, a detailed analysis of student involvement in extracurricular activities was carried out, which made it possible to propose measures to increase student activity and encourage extracurricular activities - the introduction of special disciplines, an increase in the number of scholarships and grants for active students, expanded cooperation with local organizations for internships and exchanges, conducting regular assessment and monitoring.
