For many millennia, humanity has gazed at the starry sky, which was a symbol of infinity and the transcendence of the Creator. However, many popular works of modern scientists present a picture of the Universe that does not need any God, and reject any evidence of His existence. Has science really freed from its religious roots, and does our modern understanding of the universe make God superfluous? The paper analyzes this question as very important both to the practice of science itself and to understanding the meaning of human existence and our place in the universe.
