The possibility of the return of the death penalty in the Russian Federation: problematic aspects

The article examines the history of the institution of the death penalty, provides statistics on the execution of the sentence during the USSR period. The issue of the consequences of the Russian Federation's withdrawal from the Council of Europe, namely the impact of withdrawal on the current moratorium, is analyzed. The following are the opinions of politicians on this topic. Then the question of the need to return capital punishment is considered: arguments for and against are given, and one of the solutions to this situation is proposed.
