Library opportunities in heredity and the development of soft skills

Digital transformation contributes to changing the format of the work of library specialists, requires, in addition to basic skills and experience, “fl exible skills” and special competencies. Specialists in library and information activities are in rapidly changing conditions that require a variety of skills, strategic thinking, contributing to the constant transmission of innovative ideas for the collection, processing and exchange of knowledge, as well as the demonstration and implementation of eff ective trends. Th e paper presents the composition of “fl exible skills” in demand in the labor market. Th e term “fl exible skills” is interpreted as necessary personal and social qualities, independent of acquired knowledge, including critical and strategic thinking, verbal communication, collaboration, creativity and friendliness. Th e purpose of the article is to reveal the possibilities of the library in the formation and development of “fl exible” skills among library users through the organization of events. Specialists off er a variety of methods for the development of soft skills, as an example, the article provides a general scheme of master classes for the formation and development of “fl exible” skills. Currently, there is a steady demand for library and information specialists with versatile abilities in the fi eld of digital skills, management, customer orientation, along with soft skills. As in any other profession, soft skills are required in everyday work to perform routine work more effi ciently.
