Possibilities of multispiral computed tomography to solve problems of stomatology and maxillofacial surgery

Бесплатный доступ

The use of a multispiral computed tomography (MSCT) has broadened diagnostic possibilities of radial research to solve problems of stomatology and maxillofacial surgery. The sphere of MSCT use in examining maxillofacial area is extremely various. Compared to other diagnostic technologies MSCT has a variety of conclusive advantages, such as speed of scanning, reception of high!quality multiprojective (multiplane) and 3d display of facial skull parts, performance of variety of measurements (the linear sizes, angles, defining of tissue densities etc.). In the course of postprocessor processing the estimation of multiplanar images (MPR) in sagittal, frontal, curvilinear sections and three!dimensional reconstruction is obligatory. Relative disadvantages of MSCT are artifacts from metal enthetic matters and metal constructions established during operative measures. However it cannot essentially interfere with an adequate estimation of condition of anatomic structures. For objective perception of an interested zone condition by clinician it is advisable to archive images in digital form on CD!ROM or DVD!disk in special viewing programs or joint with the doctor of radial diagnostics the image analysis behind the computer monitor.
