Possibilities of SPECT/CT in the diagnosis of qualifying breast nodules

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of SPECT/CT in the diagnosis of qualifying nodules breast. The study involved 29 patients, selected from the 912 held complete Breast examination on the basis of the State Organization "Russian Scientific Center of Roentgenoradiology" (RNCRR) Russian Ministry of Health for the period 2013 - 2014 yy. Possibilities and advantages of SPECT/CT. It was established that SPECT/CT system demonstrates a significant advantage in the differential diagnosis of focal lesions of the breast compared to X-ray techniques and planar mammoscintigraphy, particularly in the restructuring of the fibrous tissue and edema. The sensitivity of SPECT/CT in the detection of breast cancer as a whole was 89,6%. Also, the method has a sufficiently high specificity (about 100%) and, hence, a high negative predictive value conclusion.
