The possibilities of using the advanced technologies in forensic investigative and expert practice

The processes of digitalization, active use of the advanced technologies in various elds of activity as well as enhancing their role in the detection and investigation of crimes, including through forensic examinations, determine the need for their active application. In connection with the above facts, such principles of forensic medical activity as objectivity, comprehensiveness and completeness of researches conducted using modern achievements of science and technology, the present article analyzes the role and importance of 3d scanners, 3d printers and VR glasses in improving the quality and e ectiveness of expert activities of forensic medical workers. Taking into account the practice of using such technologies in foreign practice, the possibilities of using these technologies in the procedural activities of the preliminary investigation bodies including the production of such investigative actions as exhumation of a corpse and examination of the scene of an accident, operational search and expert forensic medical activities are considered. A number of advantages of 3d technologies are pointed out in comparison, rstly, with a traditional approach to the production of these investigative actions and, secondly, with virtual autopsy in view of its disadvantages. Under the results of the study, the authors come to the conclusion about the expediency of using the considered technologies in forensic investigation and expert practice and the need to amend regulatory legal acts in this regard.
