Ишемическая болезнь сердца (ИБС) остается главной причиной смерти взрослого населения России. Эффективным патогенетическим способом лечения данной патологии является реваскуляризация миокарда, выполняемая эндоваскулярным или хирургическим способом. Сочетание хирургической радикальности и малой травматичности сделало стентирование коронарных артерий ведущим способом лечения ИБС: сегодня в России количество проводимых операций чрескожного коронарного вмешательства (ЧКВ) примерно в 6 раз превышает количество операций коронарного шунтирования (КШ). Однако ЧКВ показали сравнительно меньшую отдаленную эффективность, чем КШ и, таким образом, нуждаются в совершенствовании. Учитывая количество выполняемых ЧКВ, любое существенное повышение эффективности данного метода способно обеспечить значительное снижение смертности от ИБС и, соответственно, смертности в целом. Одним из наиболее перспективных направлений повышения эффективности ЧКВ сегодня является использование современных технологий внутрисосудистой визуализации.
