The possibility of using automated industrial manufacturing for educational research in the Physics laboratory workshop of the University is discussed. The specific examples of possible research on «Fistenberg» units in molecular physics and thermodynamics are presented. Experience shows that students mastering the methodological tools of research are able to identify the range of possible research tasks during the laboratory works with the use of automated machines and other available equipment and materials. It is shown that through the creation of problem situations, requiring hypotheses, the proposed method allows, in accordance with the requirements of the State Standard of Higher Professional Education to master prescribed in the standard professional competencies.
