The article is a review of the materials of the scientific journal of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy “Russian-Byzantine Herald”, 2022, No. 4 (11). The issue is dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the birth and 130th anniversary of the death of Konstantin Nikolaevich Leontiev (1831-1891). The outstanding Russian conservative thinker remains interesting as a creative person for modern philosophical and historical analysis. His apology for Orthodoxy, the theory of Byzantism, and the exposure of “pink Christianity” remain valuable and promising for the philosophy of culture and history. The articles in the issue reflect such aspects of Leontiev’s work as connection with the ideas of personalism, existentialism, Christian eschatology, and an assessment of the poetic work of his contemporaries. The analysis of the content of the concepts of “Byzantism” and “Byzantinism”, an assessment of the significance of Peter the Great’s reforms are given. Attention is paid to the reflection of the Crimean War in the life of Leontiev, his role in the churching of the Russian intelligentsia. The desire of right-wing politicians and publicists to strengthen the historical Russian state with the help of his ideas in polemics with liberalism is reflected, the history of preserving his very ideological heritage is demonstrated.
