Modern humanities science shows a persistent interest in the category of time. Identifying the features of the artistic embodiment of time in the works of Russian literature of the 20th century requires the search for new approaches to the studied artistic material. In light of the concept of the "anthropocosmic turn," the study of artistic temporality should consider not only the fundamental and absolute essence of the category of time but also its "anthropic" conditioning. "Programmatic" texts of the 20th - early 21st century are analyzed: "The Life of Arseniyev" by I. A. Bunin, "The Master and Margarita" by M. A. Bulgakov, "Doctor Zhivago" by B. L. Pasternak, "Moscow to the End of the Line" by V. V. Yerofeyev, "A School for Fools" by S. Sokolov, "New Robinsons" by L. S. Petrushevskaya, "Laurus" by E. G. Vodolazkin, and others. It is concluded that in the literature of the 20th-21st centuries, attention is focused on the axiological significance of temporal imagery. The category of artistic time becomes pivotal in the portrayal of reality, acquiring the status of a leading theme or leitmotif of the text.
