The main objectives of the study are to identify problems in the labor market of the Samara region and develop recommendations to overcome them. The article examines the problem of the “personnel hunger” in the region. It was revealed that industry is the leading branch of the economy in the Samara region. At the same time, there is currently no tendency towards a transition to an economy based on services and information. With an abnormally low level of unemployment, there is a personnel shortage in the region. And also, there is a low increase in highly productive forces relative to previous years and relative to Russia as a whole. The author proposes to organize training for company representatives in professional programs in the field of doing business, including in the field of automation of business processes, based on the employment center of the Samara region. This will increase the efficiency of the company’s activities and get rid of the staff shortage by reducing the company’s need for employees. At the same time, it is necessary to consider the specifics of the region, therefore, when organizing training, special attention should be paid to the industrial sector. It is also proposed to organize training for citizens in information technologies, including neural networks. This will increase the number of high-performance jobs in various sectors (including industry), which will contribute to the development of the region’s economy and increase the competitiveness of companies at the national and international level. When analyzing the age structure of unemployment, a rising trend in the unemployment rate among people aged 45-49 was revealed. Therefore, the employment service work and the organization of professional programs should be made more individual depending on the age of people.
