Detection of the subclinical atherosclerosis of peripheral arteries in patients with osteoarthrosis using the data of ultrasound scanning

Ultrasound markers of atherosclerosis of carotid and femoral arteries have been studied in patients with III Stage osteoarthrosis before hip and knee endoprosthetics, who had arterial hypertension. 52 patients 50-76 years of age were included in the study. Ultrasound duplex scanning of carotid and femoral arteries was performed in all the patients, and their blood flow was assessed using pulse-wave Doppler. The structural and functional changes have been revealed indicating the high incidence of the latent arterial atherosclerotic involvement in patients older than 50, which reached 53,9%.
