The proposed article discusses the features of the organization of research activities of a chemistry student aimed at developing the components of general professional and professional competencies in the light of modern requirements for a graduate - the ability and willingness to solve the tasks of professional activity, taking into account the requirements of regulatory and technical documentation and the conditions of a specific situation. By the example of the final qualifying work of a bachelor's chemistry student, the possibilities of cognitive activity are demonstrated, contributing not only to the integration of knowledge, skills and professional experience gained during the development of the basic educational program, but also stimulating the development of further ways of self-education among students. The authors of the publication step by step consider various issues of methodological and organizational and technical support of the student when the student performs a literary review and the experimental part of the work. Special attention in this article is paid to those aspects of research that can be carried out by students independently, and issues that usually cause difficulties. The necessity of the student's work with modern sources of information, accessible means of electronic information and educational environment and when accessing Internet resources is emphasized, and the teacher's help in determining the students' theoretical foundations for interpreting the research results is also demonstrated.
