The article is devoted to the content of the interactionbetween a speech therapist and a family in the formation of communicative skills in 6-8-year-old children with moderate or severe mental retardation. The stages of the formation of pedagogical literacy of 6-8-year-oldchildren's parents with moderate or severe mentalretardation are described; the aims and tasks at eachstage are identified; the content and the form of the work at all stages are determined, the evaluation criteria of effectiveness of each stage are given.
