Interrelationship of quality of life and alexi-thymia in alcohol-dependent patients

The interrelationship of alexithymia and quality of life in alcohol-depended patients with psychotic and nonpsychotic forms of the alcoholism has been investigated. High prevalence of alexithymia among alcohol-dependent patients has been identified. The alexithymia is regarded as a premorbid personal trait acting as a risk factor of development of alcohol addiction. Tendency of persons with high level of alexithymia to overestimate of indicators of an index of quality of life has been identified.
