The relationship of a cognitive style (field dependence-field independence) and some personality traits

Бесплатный доступ

The article deals with the specificity of the relationship of a cognitive style (field dependence - field independence) and stable personality traits (resilience, anxiety, a procedural component of thinking). Resilience and the specificity of cognition are studied as important factors influencing the style characteristics of the individual. The mechanism of the instability of the cognitive style under the influence of anxiety and emotionally negative feelings is demonstrated for the first time. It was found that the level of resilience and anxiety within normal limits, as well as a high level of the development of procedural characteristics of thinking that is an analysis directed through synthesis, contributes to the adaptability (mobility) of the cognitive style of the individual under the influence of stress factors. A low level of resilience, a high level of anxiety, as well as a low level of the development of thinking as a process that is an analysis directed through synthesis contribute to maladaptivity (fixity) of the cognitive style under the influence of stress factors.
